Types of Scholarships for Students

Currently in Mexico there are different scholarship programs for high school, university and graduate students . The scholarships available in our country for students are divided into various categories. In each of our posts you can locate the scholarships divided by type.
Here we tell you what are the types of scholarships that exist in our country. What is the one that best suits your needs?

Academic Excellence Scholarships

First, there are the academic excellence scholarships . Surely you have already heard of these. Broadly speaking, they are financial supports that are given to students with a good average. In other words, they are scholarships for academic merit and for you to receive this support, you do not need to demonstrate a lack of resources, or anything like that. To apply for this scholarship, they usually ask for averages or outstanding academic careers.

Scholarships for Economic and Social Support

Then there are the financial aid scholarships, unlike the previous ones, they are not assigned on average but according to the applicant's priority of aid. These scholarships are a mechanism of social justice, which tries to correct the economic deficiencies of low-income students. Among the most common financial support scholarships are: food scholarships, maintenance scholarships, transportation support scholarships. In general, high minimum averages are not requested for this scholarship.

Artistic and Cultural Scholarships

They are those scholarship programs that seek to strengthen culture and the arts through economic incentives, tuition discounts, payment of residencies abroad, participation in biennials, among others. In general, these scholarships require an outstanding period and an artistic career that demonstrates the ability to innovate and entrepreneurship . You may also be asked for an artistic project to apply.

Sports Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to outstanding students in the field of sports . Sports scholarships generally provide tuition discounts or financial incentives for students who participate in a representative team of the university or who are high-performance athletes . These scholarships do exist in Mexico, although they are not usually as common.

Research and Specialty Scholarships.

These scholarships are a little more focused on college and graduate students. They generally consist of financial support to promote the creation of new scientific and technological projects. The student usually works on an academic project after school and in exchange receives symbolic financial support, as a salary . Generally, these types of scholarships are divided by specialty, they are focused exclusively on one area of knowledge.

Professional Practice Scholarships, Social Service and Degree

They are scholarships to support students who have to carry out professional practices, social service, theses or degree projects. To grant these scholarships is generally considered the average , the socioeconomic status, the type of work to be done . Financial support of this type is provided by universities, the Ministry of Public Education or public or private companies.

Scholarships Abroad (International Programs)

These types of scholarships are very popular at all educational levels. These are financial, housing, tuition and even food supports so that some students can study in educational institutions abroad. These supports generally cover the stay for one semester, although they can last up to two years. To get a scholarship of this type, you must have a good average , a research project or justified objective and a language certificate.
